I love my job. Teaching ancestral healing to a group of chingonx leaders sets my soul on fire.
I feel stronger after working on clients.
Inspired by my team.
I was born for this. ask anyone who’s known me as a child.
They’ll tell you I’ve always known: this life is for me. Being confined to my bed, I’ve asked myself.
Why do I need to rest from my sacred work?
Here’s what I’ve realized, so far:
I don’t need a break from work.
What I really need
is a break from the capitalist expectation
of doing it all and being it all.
The weight of being the sole provider of my children, the safer parent, healer to all/teacher to many, boss, author, self care savant…
No matter how many workouts, ceremonies, vacations, spa days I took, they weren’t able to save me from the wear and tear of generations of living under colonial rule, and doing it alone.
Between births, breastfeeding four, and waking up in the middle of the night to possibly have to protect my children, I haven’t had a full night’s sleep in 18 years.
Even when I go on vacation without the kids, my body wakes up to “breastfeed” no one.
I love traveling, speaking, teaching, and working from home, but my body also reads this as stress, but I was slowly paying a price…
